SME9 high-speed incremental encoder from offers incredible versatility and can be installed in demanding linear, rotary-radial, and rotary-axial applications.
It is perfect for motion control needs in linear motors and printers as well as in a variety of motion control applications such as in robotics, handling systems, medical equipment, automation in general. It is compact and rugged with either plastic or zinc die cast housing and its IP67 protection rate enables installation in harsh industrial environments. The magnetic and contactless operation is insensitive to dust, moisture, oil, contaminants, and vibrations. It is reliable even at fast speeds up to 100 m/s and can reach an accuracy better than 10 µm. It can be paired with linear and rotary scales offering 20 µm accuracy class (10 and 3 µm classes are available on request).
The scales can be tailored to the required length and to meet specific needs as well.
A reference track for homing function can be encoded next to the incremental track (as an alternative the encoder can provide a reference signal as long as desired per each pole). You can choose among several pole pitch sizes, in both millimeters and inches (DPI resolution for easier application in printing machines): 0.5, 1, 2, 2.54 (0.1 inch), and 5 mm.
SME9 encoder provides quadrature signals AB0 /AB0 through Push-Pull TTL and Line Driver RS-422 outputs with a resolution down to 20 nm. It is also equipped with an LED for diagnostic information (position, frequency, speed error). The power supply is +5Vdc.
